Andrew subsequently attended St. Cloud State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aviation science and management.

Andrew and his wife, Susie, married in 2003. Together with their two boys, they make their home in rural Olivia, where they are members of Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church. In addition to his duties as a state senator, Andrew is a helicopter pilot for North Memorial Health Air Care.

A lifetime of service

In 2002, Andrew joined the Minnesota Army National Guard; he became a commissioned officer in 2003. He served in Balad, Iraq from April 2007 to August 2008 and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve in 2014. He currently serves as the Garrison Commander of Minnesota National Guard’s Arden Hills Army Training Site. Major Lang is also a Blackhawk helicopter pilot.

In 2016, Andrew announced his candidacy for Minnesota State Senate. He represents District 17, which includes communities in Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Renville, and Swift counties in western Minnesota.
